Production Facility

FACTORY CAPABILITIES

The Factory areas and design of Factory Building and services cater for relatively large scale production of heavy and high voltage electrical equipment. The heaviest item included in the production programme weight about 100 tons with a voltage rating of 132KV. The building design takes care of future production of items weighing upto 200 tons and for rated voltages upto 500KV.

25,500 square metres of floor space has been provided in 13 Factory Buildings spread over an area of about 13 Hectares. The floor space occupied by the main production building is about 16,000 square metres. The factory services like steam, compressed air hot and cold water electrical  and gas are provided  laterally from the auxiliary buildings located all along the length of the main production building.

Construction wise the most prominent area in the factory is the Assembly Section and the High Voltage Test Station located at one end of the production building. This section is 138 metres in length with a span of 22 metres. This section is presently serviced by a 100 tons overhead travelling crane, with a provision of another 100 tons crane later. The crane hook’s height is 20 metres to permit lifting and transporation of large size and heavy products, e.g. Power Transformers.

MAJOR MANUFACTRUING FACILITIES AND PROCESSES

A. 300KW Vapour Phase Drying equipment with top loading autoclaves suitable for power transformers upto 200MVA.

B. 2000 tons Hydraulic press for high strength and compact insulation parts.

C. High speed computerized line for high quality silicon sheet core laminations.

D. Horizontal winding machines of size upto 1400 x 3000 mm. 

Other important manufacturing facilities include:

  • Hydraulically operated, tilting type Assembly Platforms for Transformer Cores upto 40 ton weight.
  • Testing Transformers for High Voltages tests upto 300KV RMS.
  • Motors Generation Sets upto 900 KVA for routing tests.
  • High speed slitting line for silicon steel coils.

FUTURE DIVERSIFICATION PLANS

  1. METAL OXIDE SUGAR ARRESTORS:

Pedestal type with insulating bases, with Zinc Oxide non linear resistors. Provided with operation counters.  Tropicalized. Suitable for substation installation. Rated RMS voltages.

Conforming to IEC-TC-37WG-4 specifications.

  1. CAPACITOR BANKS:

Outdoor type, for rated voltages 11-KV-132KV. Capacitor banks of r required rating would comprise of single phase sealed type, 6.7750KV shunt capacitors, of unit rating 100-200KVAR. The banks can be supplied as complete units or in knocked-down conditions.

  1. AC DISCONNECTROS:

Outdoor horizontal break type with manual or power operating mechanisms. Line and busbar types. Tropicalized. Three pole single throw units. Rated current upto 2000 Amps. Suitable of r Rated Voltages 66KV, 132 KV. Conforming to specifications IEC-129.

  1. VOLTAGE TRANSFORMERS:

Inductive, oil-filled, outdoor type. Single phase, hermetically sealed with suitable provision to accommodate oil expansion. Tropicalized. Conforming to IEC-186. Rated voltages 66KV-132KV.

  1. CURRENT TRANSFORMERS:

Inductive, oil filled outdoor type. Single phase, completely sealed units with provision for oil expansion. Tropicalized. Conforming to IEC-185. Rated voltages 66KV-132KV. The Current Transformers are multi-ratio type with upto five cores. To meet the requirements of protection and metering.

QUALITY CONTROL

All the products are manufactured strictly according to standards of International Electro-technical Commission (IEC).

The company has acquired the ISO 9001 Certification. It fully complies with the pro-visions of ISO 9001 certification to ensure that the products are internationally acceptable.

In order to achieve high quality and to ensure satisfactory performance, the following facilities have been provided in the Factory:

  1. GENERAL TESTING LABORATIES:

For chemical, physical magnetic, thermal and mechanical tests on materials and components used in the manufacturing programme.

  1. HIGH VOLTAGE TEST STATION:

For routine and special tests including high voltage tests upto 300KV. All products are type tested in international testing laboratories.

 

 

  1. MICROCOMPOUTER BASED TESTING SYSTEM:

For high precision measurement, automatic control of testing programmes and automatic printing of test results.

DESIGN & STANDARDS

The company has a well organized Design Department. Most of the engineers working in this Department have been trained abroad. They have also received training on Computer Aided Designing through reputable organizations in Pakistan. This Department is being equipped with state-of-the-art AUTOCAD System. The Products are design according to latest International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) Standards & National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) and K-Electric Specifications.

This Department enables the company to improve the existing designs of its products and design new products to meet the specific requirements of its customers.
